The E. A. Conway Family Practice Center (FPC) was completed in 1983. It is housed in a free-standing building adjacent to the hospital. With over 10,100 square feet, it provides a spacious, well-designed area for efficient family medical care. 1500 patients are seen each month in this clinic. Patient examining rooms, laboratory facilities, and a comfortable waiting area are located on the ground floor level. Full-time faculty offices, the E. A. Conway Medical Library/Learning Resource Center, and a classroom are located on the second floor of the building.

The FPC plays an integral role in the Family Practice Residency Program and is the major component of the educational experience in longitudinal family practice. Here residents care for families during all three years of training. Residents are given increasing responsibility and independence as they mature and advance through their training. Per half day in clinic, 6 to 8 patients may be scheduled for first year residents; 10 to 12 patients may be scheduled for second year residents; and 14 to 16 patients may be scheduled for third year residents.

The latest equipment is available in the FPC including a colposcope, EKG machine, obstetrical ultrasound, Tympanometer with audiometry, cryotherapy unit, a Hyfrecater, and a Flexible Nasopharyngoscope. Procedures performed at the Family Practice Center include:

  • Minor Surgery*
