Salaries and Benefits  -  2004-2005


Salaries are set annually by the Louisiana Legislature and are identical throughout the State. Residents are insured by act of legislature (in-house only). Hospitalization and life insurance are available. On-call rooms are provided; laundry is limited to white coats.

Salaries:

• PGY 1 - $ 40,527
• PGY 2 - $ 41,719
• PGY 3 - $ 43,242
  

Moonlighting

Outside moonlighting is allowed, contingent on medical licensure by the State of Louisiana and is allowed for PGY I, II, and III. Malpractice Insurance for outside moonlighting is the responsibility of the individual resident. We reserve the right to withdraw approval of a resident's participation in any outside activity involving compensation for professional services if, in the opinion of the program director, such participation interferes with the resident's education.

Vacation:

• PGYI = 3 weeks, PGY II & III = 4 weeks
  

CME:

• All residents are provided $1000 per year in CME Funds which may be used for travel, lodging and/or conference registration fees. An additional CME Bonus of $500 will be awarded to any resident scoring at the 75th percentile or above on the annual ABFP In-Training Examination.

Parking:

• Convenient parking facilities are provided to all resident physicians at the hospital at no charge.

Textbook Funds:

• Residents are provided textbook funds as follows:
• PGY I = $300
• PGY II =$300
• PGYIII =$500

Liscense Fees:

• Louisiana State Medical License fees are paid for all residents.

Membership Dues:

• Membership dues are paid for all residents to the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians and the Ouachita Parish Medical Society.

Housing:

• Local apartments are available to residents at a state rate.
