E. A. Conway Family Medicine Faculty


The faculty of the Department of Family Medicine includes physicians in Family Practice, Pediatrics, and Internal Medicine, augmented by preceptors and consultants from the departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Surgery, Emergency Medicine and a variety of local physicians who actively participate in local electives. . Full time physicians in the the Department of Family Medicine at E.A. Conway include:



Arthur T. Fort, M.D., ABFP/ABOG

Dr. Fort received his M.D., from the University of Tennessee. Among his many appointments and accomplishments,  he has served as chairman of the LSUMC-S Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and had returned to that department's faculty prior to assuming the chair of  the Department of Family Medicine and Comprehensive Care in 1982.

Richard M. Cavell, M.D., ABIM/FACP

Dr. Cavell received his MD from LSUMC in New Orleans and completed his residency at E.K. Long Medical Center in Baton Rouge. He has been instrumental in the program's development since 1981.

 Donald Givler, M.D., ABFP, FAAFP

Dr. Givler graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his residency training in Family Practice in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He joined the faculty of our residency program in 1985 , and became Program Director in 1990. He served through 2003 when he went to Kenya to work in a mission hospital. Dr. Givler and his wife, Amy, (who is also a Family Physician) have three children.

LaDonna Ford, M.D., ABIM, ACP

Dr. Ford graduated from the University of Arkansas Medical Center in 1984 and completed her Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Missouri in 1987. Dr. Ford has been on faculty at the Medical Center since 1987 with the Family Practice Department and is at present the Acting Medical Director of E. A. Conway Medical Center. Dr. Ford's area of special interest is that of Hypertension.

Barbara L. Beard, D.O., ABFP, FAAFP

A graduate of the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1994, Dr. Beard did her Family Practice Residency Training at E. A. Conway. Upon graduation in 1994 she joined the Faculty as an Assistant Professor in Family Medicine where in addition to her duties in the Department she is also a Co-Clinical Investigator in the ongoing ALLHAT Study.

David Boyle, Ph.D.

Dr. Boyle received his M.S. degree in Family Therapy and his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, both from Brigham Young University. His specialty is the mental health of children and adolescents. He has co-authored 2 books and written several articles on parenting. Dr. Boyle provides an opportunity for the residents to actively participate in the counseling process both during the rotation the residents have with him as well as on an ongoing basis with their patients from the Family Practice Center. Dr. Boyle and his wife, Cindy, are the proud parents of 5 children. Dr. Boyle's only "vice" is golf.

 

Deardre Chao, M.D., ABFP

Dr. Chao received her MD degree from George Washington University School of Medicine and received her MS degree from the University of Chicago in Developmental Biology.   She completed her residency in Family Practice in LSUMC-E.A.Conway Hopsital in 1998 and served as chief resident.  She joined the Family Practice faculty in 1999 and serves on the Advisory Committee for Core Content Board Review for Family Medicine as the chief coordinator.

Tammy V. Jones, D.O., ABFP

Dr. Jones graduated from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1985. Following a Rotating Internship at Dallas-Fort Worth Medical Center, she was in private practice in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. She completed her Family Practice Residency at E.A. Conway in 1993, serving as Chief Resident. She joined the faculty at E.A. Conway following this Residency and in addition to her duties in the Department she is also a Co-Clinical Investigator in the ongoing ALLHAT Study.

Charles W Mason, M.D., FACP

Dr. Mason received his MD from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed his residency training at LSUMC in Lafayette, LA. He practiced Internal Medicine in Monroe before joining the faculty at LSU Monroe in 2001. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. His special interests are dementia and palliative care. When he is not spending time with his wife and family he likes to play golf, ski and fly airplanes.


William E. Kintzing, M.D., ABFP, FAAFP

Dr. Kintzing graduated from LSUMC in Shreveport in 1981. He completed an Internship in the Department of Surgery at LSU-S in 1982 and completed his Family Practice Residency at LSU-S in 1984. Dr. Kintzing practiced in Virginia and Shreveport, LA prior to joining the Department of Family Practice at E.A. Conway in 1991. Dr. Kintzing rewrites web pages and serves on the Advisory Committee for Core Content Board Review for Family Medicine at EACMC.

Marty Luther, M.D.

Dr. Luther graduated from LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport. In 1994 he completed his Family Practice residency at E. A. Conway. Since that time he has served as clinical instructor on the faculty of the Family Practice Residency. Dr. Luther is the proud father of 2 children. Dr. Luther is married to the former Dr. Sherry Green who is on the faculty of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at E. A. Conway. In addition to his other duties Dr. Luther serves as Medical Student Liaison for the Department of Family Practice.

Robert D. Parker, D.O., ABFP, FAAFP

Dr. Parker graduated from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1991. He completed his Family Practice Residency Program at E. A. Conway in 1994, serving as Chief Resident. Dr. Parker joined the faculty at E. A. Conway upon graduation and in addition to his duties as Assistant Professor also directs the KidMed Program at E.A. Conway.
